Student Dress Policy
The R.H. Murray dress code requires students at all times to wear appropriate dress that is representative of a safe, respectful and inclusive learning and teaching environment., in accordance with the Rainbow District School Board’s Code of Conduct.
If a student’s clothing does not meet the dress code, parents may be contacted to bring a change of clothes, or the school may provide an alternative

Key Aspects of R.H. Murray Dress Policy
Safety and Inclusivity: The primary goal is to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students and staff.
Prohibited Content: Clothing that features symbols, language, or images related to violence, profanity, discrimination, hate, or sexually explicit material/content is not allowed.
Respectful Dress: Students are expected to dress in a manner that is appropriate for a school setting.
No Visible Undergarments: Undergarments should not be worn as outerwear, and should not be visible when at school.
Religious/Cultural Considerations: The dress code respects and permits head coverings worn for religious or cultural reasons.
No Threats or Discrimination: Clothing that demeans, threatens, or promotes any type of hate speech against an identifiable group or individual is prohibited.
Principal Discretion: Principals hold discretion to interpret and enforce school dress codes, making final decisions on student compliance while considering factors like safety, school environment, and human rights.
We ask that parents/guardians review this dress code with your child or children to ensure they understand what is expected.
